When selling a house, it can be easier to sell it as it is. However, most buyers are going to be looking for things that may need repairing and if the house doesn’t look in good shape, it may be harder to sell.
At Philip Ellis, we want your house to look as good as it can so we can get it on the market and sold quickly for you. We’ve put together some handy hints as to how you can get your house looking perfect, and photo ready in no time at all.
Declutter and tidy
It might sound obvious, but tidying the house make a huge difference. If you can, make sure that work surfaces, window ledges, fireplaces are free of clutter. If you regularly have things on the mantlepiece or window ledges, make sure they look neat, clean and dust-free.
Bedrooms are often the worst place for clutter and things being left around. In bedrooms, make sure the beds are made, the floor is clean and there’s no clothes or shoes lying around and that any toiletries are put away. Bedside tables will often have a book, lamp and clock on, on photos it looks more homely than having a lot of random items. Children’s bedrooms should also be clean and tidy, toys put away neatly, beds made and clothes away. This will help make your house look cleaner, tidier and more appealing.
Fix small jobs
The fence out in the garden that you’ve left for a couple of summers – get some in to fix it. The plastering in the kitchen that you’ve left for a while - get it done and painted. Small jobs that never seemed to be a bother to you, will be a bother to a prospective buyer. Buyers will look at what needs doing and whilst they are going to want to put their stamp on the house if they buy it; they’ll be looking at costs to get these little jobs done. Those little jobs you fix and get done can help a buyer say yes to your house.
